James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Dense red-purple; rich, concentrated blackberry and chocolate fruit on the bouquet provides an enticing start, but then the massive tannins on the palate hit you the moment you take the wine into your mouth. Those Rutherglen judges must have had mouthguards. If those tannins ever soften, the wine will merit substantially higher points.
