Stalking Horse McLaren Vale Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

We’ve never stalked a horse but imagine it’s quite a difficult thing to do. This Stalking Horse is a single vineyard Shiraz from McLaren Vale and shows off the regional distinctiveness that has given the Vale such a fine reputation. It’s got an interesting combination of sweet fruit and savoury intensity showing blueberry and smoked meats. The palate is juicy and balanced with concentrated fruit and spice, a supple, opulent mouthfeel and well-structured tannins.

Winemaker's Notes

The Stalking Horse MV Shiraz was barrel-fermented and aged for 10 months in 100% new American oak. Saturated purple in colour, it reveals a splendid bouquet of smoke, pencil lead, bacon, grilled meat, and blueberry. Supple-textured and opulent, this full-bodied Shiraz offers a range of spicy, complex flavours, superb balance, and enough well-concealed tannin to support 5-7 years of additional cellaring. Awesome!
