Produced by Stanley Estates in Marlborough, this is a pretty atypical savvy that we have come to expect from the region. It is quite dry in style, and shows aromas of passionfruit, gooseberries and lemon citrus on the nose, which pretty much show up in the palate flavours, along with a sprinkle of herbs. It's all wrapped up in zesty acidity, a talcy mouthfeel, and a decent finish that leaves a herb and gooseberry impression. Great with an asparagus and goats cheese quiche!
Our SAUVIGNON BLANC is produced from the vines we planted in 2003 around our house from when we first arrived in the Awatere Valley, Marlborough. TEN years later, these vines are well established, the roots now extending down into the stony Dashwood loam soils for 3 meters and more, searching out water and nutrients. Our volcanically derived soils give our Sauvignon Blanc a real minerality, a feature of our wines of this lower Awatere area, with good aromas immediately identifiable when a wine is poured. The lush herbaceous flavours of green tomato stalks, gooseberries.
