Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
A smoky, meaty, nougat-like bouquet of white peach, melon, cumquat and grapefruit knits tightly with fresh, spicy vanilla oak, minerals and undertones of clove and cinnamon. Elegant and medium-bodied, it's smooth and creamy, delivering a fine balance between pure, expressive fruit and winemaking-derived complexity. Sporting vitality and verve, it finishes fresh and focused, with taut citrusy acidity, a lingering core of fruit and a savoury note of matchstick.

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
A very stylish and composed chardonnay that really embodies the Lubiana style. This has a ripe and complex peach and pear nose with some gentle nutty nuances and a little baking spice, some custard cream here too. The palate s bright and powerful, with a smoothly crafted, long and even shape that delivers rich peach and pear flavours, some juicy, pithy citrus through the finish. Lovely straight-line.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Bred to stay, still very youthful and composed, grapefruit, apple and stone fruit held in a tight embrace of acidity; oak has been relegated to the sidelines.

Jeremy Oliver (2008 Vintage) says
Pure, bright and crystalline, with a complex, heady and faintly smoky bouquet whose deep core of melon and grapefruit aroma is enhanced by scents of bakery yeast, wheat meal, cloves and cinnamon. Long and penetrative, it's focused and concentrated, revelling in its creamy, lightly funky complexity and finishing with tightly defined, racy acids.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Almost no colour change from the '09 Primavera; you have to wonder then this wine will ever throw off the shackles of youth, so strict is the acidity underlying the fruit; this out-Chablis's Chablis; the points are given in hope.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
In pure Chablis style, with stony/minerally overtones to the bouquet and palate, tangy/citrussy fruit and bright acidity; long finish,
Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
Already significantly mature and complex, this floral, funky and meaty chardonnay reveals a honeyed, toasty and slightly mineral bouquet of honeysuckle, melon and cinnamon over powerful suggestions of butterscotch and cheesy, leesy undertones. Juicy, round and generous, it's long and meaty, delivering a wild and savoury expression of evolved chardonnay character held together by tight and refreshing acidity.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Nectarine, peach and grapefruit guide the intense, fruit-driven palate; very different in style to Collina.
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Fully ripened nectarine and stone fruit; fine acidity, good balance and perfect oak.
Australian Wine Companion 2005 2004
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium yellow-green; while complex barrel-ferment oak is immediately obvious on the bouquet, it is well-integrated with the positive fruit. A wine with abundant character, great length and persistence, with pristine fruit the focus of the palate; Chablis style.
