Stefano Lubiana Sasso Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Outstanding hue for age; is that little bit finer than the Estate Pinot, but shares with it a tannin structure built for age, and embracing the core of predominantly dark fruits; has exceptional length. A pinot for the future.

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
Lubiana's statement of top-flight pinot is a tightly layered, complex and authentic wine that speaks of the wilder side of Tasmania's East Coast pinots. There's savoury game meats, hard brown spices, compact brown earth, dried cherry and a wealth of fragrances that build with air: dark chocolate, tobacco and dried plum. The palate has density and depth, and some really even-handed weight; balance and shape are right on the money. Plenty of length, cherry fruits run the distance, deeper dried plum and a fine mesh of tannin - you can see into the midst of this wine, which is balanced and Gevrey-like. Powerful but graceful.

Tyson Stelzer (2008 Vintage) says
Small berries and thick skins have infused Steve Lubiana's flagship with deep, brooding intensity amidst lifted top notes of exotic spice, truffles and forest floor.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Colour development obvious; aromatic spicy foresty bouquet; has outstanding length; with complex sous bois dark fruits and superfine but persistent tannins.
