Stoneleigh Rapaura Series Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Aromas of passionfruit, gooseberries, grassiness and yellow citrus leap out of the glass and onto the lighter-bodied, fruity palate. It's all supported by crunchy acidity, and a long, dry, lemony finish that would see it match well with paella.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: This wine is light straw in colour with green highlights.

Nose: The nose is pungent, with hints of smokey complexity, vibrant fruit intensity, and upfront passionfruit and tropical aromas carrying through to the palate.

Palate: The palate emphasies the ripe tropical fruit with fresh passionfruit aromas, supported by white-fleshed nectarine highlights and wet river-stone minerality. The palate is rich and weighty, showing enormous varietal intensity, finishing with a fresh crisp acidity.

Food: Enjoy on its own, or with delicate white meat and seafood dishes.

Cellaring: This wine is best enjoyed whilst it is young and exuberant, but could be cellared over the next two years if additional bottle-aged flavours are desired.

Alcohol: 13.4%

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
A thyol-loaded sauvignon that smells of intense tropical fruits, grass and herbs with a fresh, zesty squeeze of lime and grapefruit citrus. The palate s tingling with a little spritzy edge, which works really well; there s a creamy layer with neat texture that gives way to bright, zesty tropical and pink grapefruit. Terrific wine.

Very ÔsweatyÕ nose. Mouthfilling, with strong, ripe, tropical fruit flavours, tight and crisp.

Some fresh-picked basil leaf here and a really pungent, intense sauvignon that has flavour in abundance. The palate delves deep into mango and guava territory, some passionfruit too; really full, mouth-coating presence and a long, lingering finish.

Lighter but still flavoursome style with fragrant grassy/nettle fruit, a tad on the green side but with good palate texture and plenty of flavour length.

Big, pungent nose and mouthfilling flavours. Brimming over with all the characteristics typical of NZ sauvignon blanc - asparagus, guavas, kiwi fruit, capsicum, citrus and green beans!
