Tamar Ridge Pinot Gris

Out of Stock

Winemaker's Notes

This wine is perfumed with hints of pear skin and stone fruit with a bright pale straw colour. Rich textured wine showing excellent palate weight and structure. Ripe fruit flavours with splashes of sweet lychees, plus a level of nuttiness derived from time on yeast lees. The finish is clean and dry with good flavour persistence and lingering acidity. This wine will continue to improve over the next 3 to 6 years. The weight and flavour intensity of this wine make it suitable to serve with quite richly flavoured dishes including steamed barramundi infused with herbs and lemon. Or try it with a spicy blue swimmer crab laksa.

Tamar Ridge Pinot Gris

Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2013 Vintage) says
"Complex, richly textured,” proclaims the back label. Don’t believe a word of it. This is a refined and delicately poised pinot grigio masquerading as a gris, with pretty aromas and flavours of nashi pear, granny smith apple, kaffir lime and pepper. Cool, tightly honed Tasmanian acidity provides well-defined structure, enlivened by the finely textured mouth feel of lees contact. Excellent length and longevity

High-flavoured pinot gris, with clearly delineated pear and musk flavours on a long, richly textured, slightly sweet palate.

Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
Tamar's take on pinot gris is very tidily presented: fine fragrance, cider apples and pears, very fresh and primary. The palate is pitched to fleshy shape, more apples here, and a bright crisp finish.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Has more interest than expected; a touch of lemon blossom as well as pear and quince; comment on the slightly hot finish is a trifle unfair.
