James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Bright, clear purple-crimson; this does have true varietal character, with cassis and black olive/earth aromas and flavours; the palate is just into medium-bodied territory (a good thing) and is light on its feet, the tannins fine and lacy, the oak good.

Good colour; a vibrant wine, with tangy red fruit flavours that utterly belie the alcohol; good tannin and oak support adds to the appeal.

Well made from fairly intense fruit, balanced between cassis and black olive; medium-bodied, with good length. One of the better merlots going around.

Light- to medium-bodied; a savoury, spicy, earthy wine with a mix of gentle cassis and olive; varietal, though not to everyone's taste.

Fragrant, spicy varietal aromas; an elegant but intense wine which carries its alcohol with seeming ease; cassis/berry fruit, fine tannins.

Strongly varietal in olive/earth/red fruit spectrum; medium-bodied, with firmish tannins; needs time.
