Te Awa Sauvignon Semillon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Sem sav blends are awesome seafood wines, and this one out of New Zealand would be great with some poached shellfish. Aromas of lemon citrus, honeysuckle florals and a touch of celery decorate the nose, whilst the palate is ligher-bodied, dry and zippy, with juicy citrus and subtle herb flavours, racy acidity, and a long, talcy finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Semillon perhaps contributes more to the youthful impression than Sauvignon Blanc does. Certainly on the nose floral notes and citrus peel lift the wine. On the palate Sauvignon Blanc dominates with its tropical melon richness and weight. As the wine ages I would expect it to look flinty, as the primary floral notes give way, and ‘honey-up’ as the wine takes on time. Don’t judge this wine too early, its best years are ahead.
