Te Mata Woodthorpe Vineyard Merlot Cabernets

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2008 Vintage) says
This bargain-priced red is Te Mata's biggest seller - and deservedly so. The 2008 vintage, estate-grown in Hawke's Bay, is a blend of Merlot (44 per cent), Cabernet Franc (27 pet cent), Cabernet Sauvignon (16 pet cent) and Petit Verdot (13 per cent), matured for 17 months in French oak casks. Full-coloured, with a fragrant, slightly spicy bouquet, it is fresh and vibrant, with generous blackcurrant and spice flavours, slightly herbal and nutty. It's finely balanced for early drinking or moderate cellaring.
