Te Whare Ra Duke of Marlborough Gewurztraminer

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
Arrestingly powerful and rich, this hedonistic wine usually crams more sheer flavour into the glass than most other Gewurztraminers from the region - or anywhere else. Made from 24 year-old vines, the 2003 vintage is pale, musky and slightly sweet, with beautifully ripe, exotic fruit flavours, good weight, gentle acidity and a distinctly spicy finish.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
Arrestingly powerful and rich, this hedonistic wine usually crams more sheer flavour into the glass than most other Gewurztraminers from the region - or anywhere else. The 2001 vintage is as striking as its much-awarded predecessors, with an enticingly full-bloomed bouquet of rose petals leading into an exotically flavoured palate with intense lychees and spice characters. The 2002 is very full-bodied (14.5 per cent alcohol), with a musky perfume. Soft and slightly sweet, with rich lychees, pear and spice flavours, it's a beautifully ripe, intensely varietal wine, best opened mid-2003+.

Powerful, ripe and rich, this wine typically crams more sheer flavour into the glass than most other Gew|rztraminers from the region. Lovely now, with a richly perfumed, appley, spicy bouquet, the 1998 vintage is a medium style, estate-grown at Renwick, with impressive concentration and an abundance of ripe, delicate flavour, crisp, poised and persistent.
