Expert Reviews

Max Allen & Peter Forrestal (2000 Vintage) says
Only Chianti, Asti and Soave produce more wine than Valpolicella, which is close to Verona in the Veneto region of north-east Italy. This is a medium-bodied blend of the corvina, rondinella and molinara grapes and we think it is classic Valpolicello. There are cherry stone, almond and red berry characters and some savoury, nutty dryness on the mid-palate. While approachable now, it has chewy tannins and a firm, dry finish. Some might consider it a touch confronting: we found it deliciously different.
