Teusner Woodside Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Bright straw-green; it seems Teusner can work the same magic with sauvignon blanc as he does with his better known red wines; this is a positively juicy and joyous rendition of the variety, passionfruit to the fore, backed by kiwi fruit and a touch of pineapple, and ripe citrussy acidity.

Sourced from Woodside, this has a greener and grassy, herbaceous style to it - really dominates. The palate is tart and tangy, delivering lemon citrus flavour, some herbal flavours here too, and gently savoury grip to close.

An interesting take on the variety, building in a litde struck match complexity to complement the tropical fruit and cut grass aromas; the palate is generous yet light and fine to conclude; excellently put together, and proof of success with style variations of sauvignon.

Ripe tropical aromas with passionfruit coming to the fore; a textured palate with a dry, chalky and even finish.

Matt Skinner (2008 Vintage) says
Former Torbreck winemaker Kym Teusner continues to craft a brilliant and understated range of wines that now extends beyond the boundaries of Teusner's native Barossa Valley. From Woodside in South Australia's Adelaide Hills, this is a cracking sauvignon blanc: it has a bright and lifted nose of passionfruit, gooseberry, lanolin and soft, green herbs; and a mouthfeel that is direct and intense with focused acidity and a racy, drying finish rounding things out. Drink it with caramelised onion tart.
