The Little Wine Company Little Gem Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Susan Little sources the fruit for the lovely little chardy from the iconic Roxburgh vineyard in the upper Hunter Valley. It once produced arguably one of Australia's best chardonnays back in the day, so it is a smart move to use this fruit once more. It's a peachy, citrusy number that shows hints of toasiness and dairy. The palate is medium-bodied and creamy to taste with bright, lemon zest acidity, licks of buttered toast, and a dry, fresh finish. This will benefit from time and gain more complexity.

Winemaker's Notes

This Chardonnay is a nostalgic return for Suzanne Little to a beautiful vineyard in the Upper Hunter Valley formally known as Roxburgh. Suzanne was responsible for making Roxburgh Chardonnay at Rosemount Estate in the late 1990’s and has carried a love of making Chardonnay for 20 years.

The style is textural and savoury with oak playing a supporting rather than dominant role. The crisp, mineral characters of the fruit are supported by the complex flavours of oak and maturation on lees. This is a complex yet delicate wine that will age well for 5-8 years.
