Tilbrook Estate Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Here is an uber-cool savvy made by a self-taught Englishman in the Adelaide Hills, and it's a little cracker! Lots of tropical fruits abound on the nose, whilst the palate is frisky and grassy with a refreshing lemon finish. It would go down well at a pool party this Summer with some seafood kebabs.

Winemaker's Notes

2013 was a low yielding year and we picked half of what we get in an average year. The result is aromas and flavours that are more concentrated than usual!

The grapes were hand picked from a neighbour’s vineyard and from our own Estate vineyard. This is “Keith’s Block”, named after the friend who hand trained the vines! The block is bowl shaped with the higher areas contributing fruitier flavours and body and the lower, cooler areas, crisp flavours and acidity. Our neighbour is also in Lenswood and has a very cool site.

Light straw green; a potent, complex and powerful Sauvignon Blanc; the flavours straddle lime through to tropical fruit salad.

Tilbrook Estate Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Fermented in stainless steel, but kept on lees for six months; has well above-average intensity of flavour, with gooseberry, lime, guava and passionfruit all rolled up together, the intensity continuing through to the finish and aftertaste.

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
Plenty of passionfruit and really lively, impressive fruit appeal here. This hails from a cool site near Forreston and has terrific intensity as a result. Really assertive passionfruit flavour on the palate too, and a crisp, direct and crunchy texture that holds flavour and freshness right through the finish. Delicious wine.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Has considerable richness and depth to the gooseberry, passionfruit and stone fruit of both bouquet and palate, so much so it loses energy on the slightly congested finish. A gentler hand needed at some point.
