Estate fruit from the Toolangi Dixon's Creek vineyard has been transformed by two winemakers into a bright, floral red-cherry style of pinot, sappy and perfumed. It's a lithe and juicy palate here, really balanced and even, delivering crunchy, upbeat, early-Drinking enjoyment.

It spends nine months in French oak and this year, they've turned out a beauty. Lots of tongue-hugging dryness - this red announces its style clearly from the outset. It has flavours of dry leaves and dry cherries, assorted spices and cedar smoke. There's a slight, jubey sweetness in the centre of the flavours - though in a flash the dryness reasserts itself. Don't be put off - it's a beautiful wine.

This speaks of its vintage; the '06 Yarra pinots are uplifting wines. Fine fragrance and lift, neat restraint and elegance, smelling balanced too, this is complex and well crafted. The palate boasts ripeness and weight, rich soft tannins flowing and curvaceous, staying light through the finish flowing and curvaceous, staying light through the finish with a waft of smoky complexity.
