James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Classic cool-climate shiraz, with a complex spider's web of black cherry, spice and pepper aromas and flavours; the tannins on the mid-palate are perfect, master-minding the long finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2011 2010
Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
This is a ripe and sturdy shiraz that oozes concentrated ripe summer berry and plum aromas from the glass, with some gentle oak spice and chocolate that s quite nicely integrated. The palate delves into darker shades again, offering deep cassis, plum and cherry flavour amid long, smooth tannins. Handy balance, mellow and even.
Good Wine Guide 2013
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Perfumed and bright, with Asian spice and red fruit at the core; the palate is lithe and quite lean, but builds to an apex of flavour that is defined by a subde bramble undercurrent; very long and quite silky on the finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
An elegant, medium-bodied wine, winning by subtle persuasion rather than brute force; silky tannins and fine cherry/ plum fruit; fully priced.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
Angus Hughson (2005 Vintage) says
There is much talk about Rhone qualities in Australian Shiraz but seldom does it come through like in this Yarra Shiraz. Subtle, savoury and mid- weight, it exudes cranberry, liquorice and white pepper notes underlaid by blackberry fruit. Suave and silky with perfect balance between fruit flavour and fine- grained tannins it finishes long with an almost Pinot-like finish. Jeni Port writes, "Incy-wincy yields (1.5 tonne to 0.4 of a hectare) bring lots of concentration to this wine. It has a gorgeous perfume, is plump and silky textured with feather-light tannins."
