Wine Companion (2011 Vintage) says
Moody fruit nose and fresh, lively melon/cashew palate. Still fresh.

What is it with Yarra Valley chardonnay, is it thinking of retiring or something? It's taken more bows this year than Dame Nellie MelbaÑ who, incidentally, had close ties with the valley herself. Just so happens, we are inundated with some seriously good examples. Don't complain, stock up. And make sure you include some of this elegant offering with its citrussy notes.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Spotlessly clean, elegant melon and grapefruit; as yet slightly simple; should build complexity with time.

Deep in the backblocks of the Yarra Valley there is a railway crossing with a sign that says, 'Give way to trains'Ñ the alternative being, presumably, to take them on. I only mention it because this wine is also from the Yarra Valley and the name always reminds me of the sign. The wine, by contrast, is complex, persistent and intense, with intriguing flavours that'll keep you coming back.

Medium yellow-green; the solid bouquet has stone fruit, some fig and subtle oak; the palate is in the same metier, smooth and deep, and subtle oak. Hampered by a fractionally short finish.
