James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Good structure and weight, but for once Tony Murphy's hand faltered slightly with an overdose of American oak on both bouquet and palate

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Very good hue; light- to medium-bodied, elegant red fruits and hints of spice; quite firm and long; 50-year-old vines and a miracle vintage at work.

James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the bouquet is starting to show some bottle-developed complexity with a mix of dark fruit, oak and savoury/leather nuances; the smooth, medium-bodied palate has good oak balance and length; with obvious wine show appeal, for it has won two gold medals (Adelaide and Hobart) in 2002. Good value.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the bouquet has a neat mix of red berry/dark cherry and more savoury notes; the palate initially traps you with its vanilla smoothie flavours and feel, but after a second taste the inherent complexity of the wine asserts itself, as do the ripe tannins on the close. Made from 50-year-old vines; good value.
