The River Retreat range from Trentham donates part of the proceeds from the sale of every bottle to the Murray Darling Environmental Foundation - so there is something to feel good about when you sip this rich, easy going red. Dark berries and black plum smells jump out of the glass, along with hints of star anise and dried leaves. The palate is fuller-bodied, smooth and fruity, with licks of toasted vanilla, gentle tannins, and a soft, fruity finish. Good with juicy cheeseburgers.
The wetlands of the Murray Darling Region are integral to maintaining the health of the unique, yet fragile ecosystems of South Eastern Inland Australia. Trentham Estate’s ‘River Retreat’ range of wines is based on an initiative dedicated to raising awareness of these wetlands. Each purchase of the River Retreat label results in a donation to the Murray Darling Environmental Foundation.
Deep purple in colour with aromas of blackcurrant and licorice. Flavours of sweet dark berries and plums are persistent and balanced with subtle savoury French oak characters. Full, rich and soft.
A great match with red meats and full flavoured tomato based pasta dishes.
