Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The 2001 vintage is very successful. Rich and supple, it was grown in a relatively cool coastal area of Hawke's Bay and matured for a year in new French oak barriques. A stylish wine with good potential, it is full-coloured and flavoursome, with sweet fruit characters of cherries and plums, spicy oak and a rounded finish.
