Tulloch Pokolbin Dry Red Private Bin Shiraz

Expert Reviews

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
We're on the Tulloch bandwagon - these are traditional Hunter Valley reds in a positive sense. They're not big reds, but they have a sense of charm and authenticity about them. There was a time in Australian wine - about thirty-five years ago - when Tulloch's Private Bin Red was Australia's most expensive wine, such was its renown. Tastes changed, though in recent years we've come to re-appreciate the inherent quality, and rarity, of these lighter dry reds. Deceptively well structured and complex even as a young wine. There's a flourish of Asian spices and dried cherries, earth and cedary, creamy oak - though in truth the oak has been wonderfully underplayed. It has juicy length and an enormous sense of purity. A wine to contemplate - and to cellar.
