TWP Vermentino

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Vermentino is so hot right now, a variety that is proving to be very well suited to the warm South Australian climate in particular. The attraction of a such is like this is that it marries a dry and refreshing palate with some welcome tangy chalky texture, giving both refreshment and interest.

Winemaker's Notes

With this project, our aim is to showcase the variety of Vermentino as it forges a new frontier in Australia. Whilst we took some cues from traditional international styles of Vermentino, we set about making the wine our own way, uncovering the fruit characters of Vermentino from the Riverland region.

The winemaking techniques and yeast selections ensured that the delicate fruit characters were preserved and enhanced. This is an aromatic wine with well- balanced acid providing a soft palate whilst maintaining a fresh, crisp finish. An ideal wine for spring and summer, it will complement an array of foods.

Appearance: Pale straw with a brilliant green hue on release.

Palate: Nashi pear, grapefruit, light tropical flavours. Delicate texture, elegant & smooth with balanced acidity providing a refreshing finish.

Cellaring: Best consumed as a young, fresh wine.

Alcohol: 12.2%

A pleasant dry white wine - fresh, light and stylish, with firm estery acidity.
WINESTATE (2011 Vintage) says
Light sweaty muscat characters on the nose and very good crisp crunchy palate.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Bright, pale straw-green; a totally arresting wine, with a rapier-like palate of ripe pear and apple skins offset by piercing, freshening acidity, the finish breezy and dry.
