Tyrrell's Brookdale Semillon

Cracka Value Rating

Cracka Review

2013 was a lovely, richly fruited year in the Hunter Valley, and this semillon is perfect for those who usually find young semillon a bit too 'sharp' to drink. It a softer, plusher version that shows lemon curd and honey on the nose, with a touch of lime zest, whilst the palate is juicy and a little bit creamy, with lemon pie flavours, poised acidity, and a bright, succulent finish. Great with some tempura prawns.

Winemaker's Notes

Brookdale Semillon comes from our famous HVD vineyard which always produces wines that are floral, softer, and more approachable than our other vineyards making it perfect as a current release Semillon.

The floral nose leads into a palate that is seamlessly balanced between soft semillon fruit characters and a clean, light finish.

A wine for all occasions lending itself perfectly to seafood dishes.

The 2013 vintage was awarded 1 gold medal.

Nick Stock (2012 Vintage) says
Bright, fine, juicy nectarine fruit nose here, this has some lovely citrus too, really even and nicely ripened. The palate s juicy and even, and really lovely acidity works away below gentle, elegant fruit flavour. Lemony acid finish; balanced and ready.

One of the first Semillons of the vintage to hit the ground, itÕs true to the season in its predictably taut and razor-sharp style of firm acid, cut grass, lemon and lime. A zesty lunchtime aperitif, or give it a few years to flesh out.

Has more colour than most others when seven months old, but not alarmingly so. A single vineyard wine that has been made for consumption over the next five years, already with plenty of ripe lemon/lime aromas and flavours, the acidity restrained.
