James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Serious stuff indeed; plenty of toasty oak, and the core of fruit is dark and brooding, but not at all heavy; chewy and thick on the palate, with terrific length, and the many layers of the wine to open on the palate over a long period of time.

Certainly shows a year in barrel (used?) and then another year in new oak; the winemakers thought the fruit justified the expense; I am not convinced.

It's not entirely clear why this wine was selected for double oaking, 12 months in new oak, then another 12 months in another set of new oak barrels; mixture of black fruits, chocolate and vanilla, with soft tannins and lots of oak.
