James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Proclaims its region of origin with a generous helping of chocolate; the oak, too, has not been spared, and the ripe tannins provide the third leg of the tripod; on repeated retastings the black cherry and plum fruit finally asserts itself.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Strong red-purple; a left-field combination of dark fruits on the one hand, and a spicy/savoury bitter chocolate twist on the other; certainly complex and long, but difficult to read.

Some colour development; rich soft black fruits with some caramel elements; even palate feel and flow with some fruit sweetness ex alcohol.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Strong purple-red; a medium-bodied palate, with blackberry, plum and a mixture of chocolate and spice; ripe tannins are in balance, as is the oak; overall, supple mouthfeel.

Campbell Mattinson (2005 Vintage) says
When I first saw the name of this wine a few years ago I thought it was a joke. I promptly put my laughing gear away when I tasted the wine and it was excellent. Apparently frux frugis means 'fruit of the earth' -fitting for a single-vineyard wine grown pesticide-free. 2005 RELEASE Big, firm bugger. Liqueurous too. There's a lot about this wine that tastes of liquid chocolate poured over fresh-picked blueberries, the chewy, tannic, pulpy grape skins floating in among the inky thickness of it. That said, it's also crisp with acidity and fresh to the point of rawness -this has a whopping future ahead of it. Bolts of Grangelike tannin, DRINK 2013-2025.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Medium- to full-bodied; has a very strong regional bitter chocolate and earth wrapping around the sweet fruit at the core; slips past the alcohol.

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Rich, dark chocolate and blackberry fruit; silky but powerful palate; a ripple of sweet fruit through the back palate and long finish. Lovely wine.
