Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2008 Vintage) says
The 2008 vintage was hand-picked in the Gimblett Gravels and barrel-aged for 16 months. Deeply coloured, with a peppery fragrance, it is youthful, with fresh plum, spice and dark chocolate flavours, showing good concentration. Open 2012+.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
Following the consistent success of Syrah as a vital ingredient in its blended red. Unison, the Hawke's Bay winery top-grafted some of its Merlot vines to Syrah. Barrel-aged for 20 months (mostly in American oak), the debut 2002 vintage is densely coloured, with highly concentrated, sweet fruit flavours of plums, pepper, dark chocolate and liquorice. It's less alcoholic (13. 5 percent) and overtly oaky than some Hawke's Bay Syrahs, but still power-packed, with firm tannins and great structure for aging.
