Venica & Venica Ronco del Cero Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is quite possibly one of the most detailed and complex sav blancs you have ever tasted. It's a bit more interesting than the average with layered aromas and flavours of gooseberries, citrus and kiwi fruits, along with hints of white florals, anise spices and dried herbs. The palate is dry and zesty with tropical fruit flavours, a smooth roundeness to the mouthfeel, and a long, spiced gooseberry finish. An excellent shellfish wine.

Winemaker's Notes

Ronco del Cerò this is the name hill that originally great grandfather Daniele bought in 1929 and where he first started making Sauvignon. Today this wine is probably the most well known among Sauvignon Blanc lovers and it represents the greatest example of Venica microclimates blending philosophy to achieve complexity from different vineyards.

Typical fruity and floral aromas. Among the fruity aromas we can experience the elixir of goose berries passion fruit and white grapefruit, all wrapped in harmony with honey suckle, jasmine and fresh spicy aromas of boxwood, sage, anisette, sambuca. The vineyards/characters blends makes the wines complete and complex also under the mouth feel aspect.

Food: Pasta with clams, salami, frico (fried Montasio cheese), grilled prawns, truffle on scrambled eggs.
