Subdued red fruit nose - opens up with air. Savoury/cedary palate with lovely texture.

Has good varietal character, the red and black fruits offset by gently savoury tannins and touches of spice

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
This was made at the Gapsted Winery in north-east Victoria, but because of the bushfires of the 2007 season the grapes were sourced from outside the region. It has a lovely, soft, berried mid-palate with light, fluffy, finely tuned tannin. There's a touch of cedary toastiness on the finish, but it never approaches bitterness. In many ways this is the merlot we've all been looking for: soft, gluggable, inexpensive and demanding to be quaffed.

An elegant, savoury style; minty overtones to the nose and a very good oak/fruit palate with nicely textured tannins.
