Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
The powerful, splendidly ripe 2002 vintage was grown in the Gimblett Gravels district of Hawke's Bay and matured for 18 months in French (95 per cent) and American oak barriques. Delicious in its youth, it's an enticingly fragrant, muscular wine (14. 8 per cent alcohol), with densely packed blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, deliciously rich and rounded. Drink now or cellar.

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The generous, richly varietal 2001 vintage was grown in the Gimblett Gravels district of Hawke's Bay and matured for 18 months in French and American oak. Dark, with sweet-fruit characters of cassis, plum and black pepper, it's a muscular (14 per cent alcohol) yet highly approachable wine with impressive depth and rounded tannins. Tasted as a barrel sample (and so not rated), the 2002 vintage looked even better, with notable warmth and concentration.
