James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Bright colour; an oak dominant bouquet, with ripe blackberry and mocha aromas; the coffee note continues on the palate, with generous sweet fruit on the finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Deep colour; concentrated but refined and delicious blackberry fruit with notes of dark chocolate, spice and mocha; excellent length; from 50-year-old estate vines.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Deep colour; immensely powerful and concentrated, awash with black fruits, spice and dark chocolate, which have in turn consumed the oak; 50-year-old dry-grown vines.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Rich, ripe, concentrated black fruits, prune and plum jam; vanilla/mocha oak; milky tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Intense fruit aromas; tightly wound and concentrated black fruits; excellent texture and structure.
Australian Wine Companion 2005 2004
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium to full red-purple; the deeply accented bouquet covers the full spectrum from savoury/foresty aromas on the one side, and blackberry, prune and all-spice on the other; all of these characters are in abundance on the palate, plus a dash of bitter chocolate; a wine with great personality and good oak handling into the bargain. The big end of town to be sure, and you wouldn't want to drink the bottle without assistance from friends.
