Villa Maria Single Vineyard Taylors Pass Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2010 Vintage) says
Grown in the company's Taylors Pass Vineyard in Marlborough's Awatere Valley, this wine is hand-picked and fermented and matured for a year in French oak barriques (25 per cent new in 2010). The 2010 has a highly fragrant, creamy bouquet and vibrant, ripe grapefruit and nut flavours that show real concentration. Tasted prior to bottling (and so not rated), it looked extremely promising.

WINESTATE (2007 Vintage) says
Still youthful in colour. Minerally, distinctly cool-climate style with lemony, slightly limey, nutty flavours, tight and focused.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
The 2002 vintage was grown in Marlborough's Awatere Valley and fermented and aged for 10 months in French oak barriques (60 per cent new). Showing a distinct, 'malo'-derived butterscotch character, it's a weighty, complex wine with rich melon and biscuit flavours, promising to mature well.
