Vin Alto Celaio Red Blend

Michael Cooper (2004 Vintage) says
This Clevedon, South Auckland red, a reserve version of Di Sotto (see below), is blended from traditional French and Italian grape varieties, such as Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Montepulciano, and given a lengthy spell in oak barrels. The 2003 vintage is attractively scented, with fresh acidity, strong, spicy flavours and mouthfilling body. The 2004 is fresh, vibrantly fruity and plummy, with crisp acidity and good flavour depth.

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Only made in top vintages, this Clevedon, South Auckland red is a reserve version of Di Sotto (see below). The 1998 vintage is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Montepulciano, oak-aged for two years. Fullish in colour, with some development showing, it has a savoury, herbal, spicy bouquet. Full-bodied, spicy and mellow, with evidence of lengthy barrel-aging, it shows lots of character, while being well outside the New Zealand mainstream, in terms of style. Drink now.
