Vina Olabarri Viura Blanco

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is a fuller, unoaked style of white that is fruity and a touch spicy. Smells of ripe peaches, tropical fruits, ginger and citrus on the nose, with just a sniff of nuttiness. The palate is full with a touch of richness, more tropical flavours, a flinty texture, and a long, refreshing finish. Excellent value for something different.

Winemaker's Notes

Bodegas Vina Olabarri is a family-owned property, with a bodega in Haro, Rioja Alta. The vineyards cover an area of 20 hectares, growing on terraces overlooking the Ebro River.

Nose: A golden, earthy-mineral nose is surprisingly complex. There’s sand soil with apple, nuts, flowers and some sweet-spicy apricot richness.

Palate: A full palate that’s not too rich features peach, nectarine and waxy pineapple fruits. It’s a fresh, unwooded style and has good composure, managing some savoury and mineral tang and fresh acid closure at back.

Grape Variety: 90% Viura & Garnacha Blanca & Malvasia.
