Waimea Estates Bolitho Reserve Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
Fragrant and rich, the 2001 is a powerful wine, bold, spicy, complex and firm. The 2002 vintage grown at Tasman and Lower Moutere, was low-cropped (below 5 tonnes/hectare), picked at 25 brix and matured in French oak barriques (50 per cent new). It's a strapping (14. 5 per cent alcohol), tannic, raisiny, spicy wine, but rustic, lacking the fruit intensity, fragrance and finesse of the 2002.

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
Fragrant and rich, the 2001 vintage was made from low-cropped (below 5 tonnes/hectare) Nelson vines, matured in French oak casks (a third new) and bottled unfiltered. It's a powerful wine with an attractive bouquet of cherries, spice and oak, and a bold, spicy, complex palate with sweet-fruit characters, good concentration and firm tannins. Open 2004-05
