Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
The 2003 vintage was harvested in the company's Annabrook Vineyard in Nelson at 23 brix (compared to 21. 7 brix for the standard wine) and mostly fermented and lees-aged in tanks, but 20 per cent of the blend was fermented with indigenous yeasts in seasoned French oak casks. It's a fleshy, full-bodied wine (14 per cent alcohol) with sweet fruit delights, ripe, gently oaked, tropical-fruit flavours and slightly minerally touches adding complexity.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
The 2002 vintage is a Nelson wine, mostly fermented and lees-aged in tanks, but 30 per cent of the blend was fermented with indigenous yeasts in one-year-old French oak casks. It's a ripely flavoured, gently herbaceous wine, but less impressive than the very aromatic and intense 2001

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The dry, flinty 2001 vintage is a single-vineyard Nelson wine, mostly handled in tanks, but 10 percent of the final blend was French oak-aged. It's an intensely varietal wine with nettley aromas and flavours, racy acidity and a long finish.
