Waimea Estates Dry Riesling

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2005 Vintage) says
The 2005 vintage is one of the best yet. Grown in the Annabrook vineyard, on the Waimea Plains of Nelson, it's a slightly sweet wine (7.2 grams/litre of residual sugar), tight and minerally. Fresh and polished, it has lovely flow across the palate, offering intense, luscious lemon and mandarin notes.

Less memorable than the intense, racy 2001 vintage , the 2002 appetisingly crisp Nelson wine with green-edged fruit characters. Still youthful, it shows good depth and obvious aging potential.

The fragrant 2001 vintage is a lees-aged Nelson wine with slightly minerally, slatey characters on the nose and palate. It's a tightly structured and complex dry wine (three grams/litre of sugar), with excellent flavour intensity and racy acidity.
