Waimea Estates Nelson Cabernet Merlot

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
The 2002 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (62 per cent), Merlot (29 per cent) and Cabernet Franc (9 per cent), matured in French and American oak casks. It's a full-coloured wine with a herbaceous bouquet. The palate is fresh and crisp, with decent depth of raspberry, green-leaf and plum flavours, but it lacks real ripeness and roundness. Overpriced.

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The 2001 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (57 per cent) and Merlot (41 per cent), with a drop of Cabernet Franc, matured in French and American oak casks. It's a slightly austere, herbaceous red, flavoursome, but lacking real warmth and softness. Overpriced.

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
The 1998 vintage matured in American oak casks, is a light red with moderate depth of flavour. Slightly flawed, it is not a cellaring prospect. The 1999 matured in older American and French oak, offers fresh, smooth, red berry and herb flavours in an easy-drinking style.
