Waipara Springs Premo Pinot Noir

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This bonny little pinot noir is coming atchya from the land of the long white cloud - NZ. It's a lovely drink that displays pretty dark plums, cherries and sweet spice perfumes on the nose, whilst the palate is medium-bodied and slinky, with spiced plum flavours, licks of earthy savouriness, fine tannins, and a long, sauntering finish. It's awesome stuff that will kick on for a few years yet.

Winemaker's Notes

This is an elegant, velvety wine with hints of dark cherries and ripe plums. It is rich in fruit and complex earthy characters with ripe tannins and a balanced palate with fine acidity. One for the cellar, but is already drinking beautifully. This wine has the structural capacity for a decade of cellaring. Cellar with the confidence of screw cap.

Waipara Springs Premo Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2009 Vintage) says
Hand-picked from Waipara's oldest Pinot Noir vines, the 2009 vintage was fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 15 months in French oak barriques (20 per cent new). Full ruby, it is mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with strong, vibrant cherry, plum and spice flavours, a hint of liquorice, and ripe, supple tannins. It's still youthful, but already delicious.
