Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
Blended from Cabernet Sauvignon (45 per cent), Cabernet Franc (45 per cent) and Merlot (10 per cent), the 2001 vintage of this North Canterbury red is richly coloured, with a slightly herbaceous bouquet. A fresh, vibrantly fruity wine with strong blackcurrant and plum flavours seasoned with French oak, it needs a bit more time; open mid-2004+.

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (43 per cent), Merlot (29 per cent) and Cabernet Franc (28 per cent), the 1999 vintage of this North Canterbury red was matured for 18 months in French and American oak casks (25 per cent new). Fullish in colour, with a hint of sweet oak on the nose and palate, it's a berryish, savoury and smooth, strongly wooded wine with quite good depth.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (35 per cent), Cabernet Franc (35 per cent) and Merlot (30 per cent), the 1998 vintage of this North Canterbury red was matured in French and American oak casks (22 per cent new). Full in colour, with a spicy, faintly herbal bouquet, it's a smooth, fairly rich red with fresh, vibrant fruit characters and cassis/plum flavours wrapped in sweet oak. Good drinking now onwards
