An intensely flavoured North Canterbury wine with racy acidity. It is typically a dry style with fresh, flinty flavours, minerally, finely balanced and long. It's a distinctly cool-climate style, full of personality.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
An intensely flavoured North Canterbury wine with racy acidity. The 2002 vintage was made from very low-cropped vines (4.5 tonnes/hectare). Bright, light lemon/green in hue, with fresh, lifted, strongly herbaceous aromas, it has excellent weight and depth of gooseberry/lime flavours, bone-dry, crisp and lively.

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
A strongly flavoured, green-edged North Canterbury wine with firm acid spine. Bright, light lemon/green, the 1998 vintage is fresh and crisp, with good vigour and plenty of melon/lime flavour. It's a relatively ripe-tasting vintage, with mouthfilling body (13.5 per cent alcohol). The 1999 is appetisingly fresh, crisp, appley and lively, with a strong finish.

Michael Cooper (1996 Vintage) says
The 1996 vintage is a full-bodied North Canterbury wine (13-5 per cent alcohol), with lively acidity in a grassy, cool-climate style. It lacks a bit of ripeness and lushness, but the flavours are quite searching.
