Wedgetail Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2008 Vintage) says
An excellent pinot noir of grace and substance. Lovely spicy, wet soil, cherry, aniseed and rose-petal flavours lead into a sweetly red-fruited palate with firm, fine tannins, bright crisp acidity and an expansive, lightly stemmy finish. There's a tinge of pretty vanilla nougat oak too, but it's more or less fruit driven. Light but sure-footed. Wedgetail Estate is proving itself to be an excellent pinot noir producer.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Deeper colour than the Reserve; no reduction whatsoever; riper, more complex and more structure, though no more finesse. A whisker in it.

Ken Gargett (2003 Vintage) says
Wedgetail wines are worth a look. A little-known mob from the Yarra, they can be hit and miss but needless to say, if this was a miss, it wouldn't be here. They've occasionally been included in tastings with some big names and far from getting the expected butt-kicking, they have knocked a few far more exalted and more expensive wines for six. Keep an eye on them, and make a start with this silky, complex pinot.
