A Riverina cheapie with some cedary oak influence, ripe peachy flavours and a smooth mouthfeel.

Bill Calabria's Richland sauvignon blanc is a perennial Quaff favourite, but his chardonnay hasn't overwhelmed us - until this year. This is for lovers of fuller-bodied chardy, as it has heaps of creamy, biscu-ity, peachy flavours carrying through to a lingering aftertaste of butterscotch, thankfully balanced by some crisp, juicy acidity. Definitely one to drink young, preferably with a nice roast chook.

Medium to full yellow-green, developed for its age; the bouquet has rich peachy fruit, with more of the same on the palate; seems to show prolonged skin contact characters; honest and full flavoured, but drink asap.

James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
The colour is an extraordinarily brilliant green-yellow; the bouquet is clean, the oak ever so subtle and very well integrated into the gentle tropical fruit aromas. The palate is clean, gently ripe and smooth, avoiding the coarse phenolics which often disfigure wines such as this.
