James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Deep, healthy colour; only 70 dozen bottles of this wine were made, and spent 20 months in new French and American oak; while that input is obvious, the density of the dark berry fruit pulls the oak into balance. A sumptuous full-bodied wine with a peacock's display of flavours, and immaculate balance and length.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Deeper, more purple colour than Albert's Block; a more savoury, denser, wine, with blackberry and licorice, and tannins to match; carries its heavy alcohol load without flinching.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Much darker than Albert's Block, with more tar, leather and savoury notes; loaded with fruit, and there is a brooding quality that needs time to be fully realised; a heroic wine that carries itself with poise.
