Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2008 Vintage) says
Not a lot of fanfare but a great deal of flavour; the Whistler way with wine. You have to be able to cope with a sizeable hit of alcohol but if you can, this is a beauty. Talk about a big red _ you could walk across a lake of this, it's that dense. Chocolate, toast, thick blackberry and coal-like flavours. Nicely balanced, syrupy and smooth through the finish. Yum from go to whoa.

Nick Stock (2005 Vintage) says
Whistler's shiraz fruit comes from their vineyard in the Marananga district and has real power and intensity. It's still very youthful with ripe blackberry and spiced plum fruits, a lifted fragrance, nicely ripe and vivacious. Astounding flavour, superb richness and intensity, tannins thunder away below, holding the palate in fulsome yet balanced shape. Barossa shiraz at its finest!

WINESTATE (2005 Vintage) says
Pretty, violet aromatics with an almost cranberry-like lift to the nose, underlaid with nice smoky oak. Hot, chocolaty palate with powerful oak and fleshy tannins.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Rich blackberry, dark chocolate, plum and prune; supple, ripe tannins; good balance.

James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Medium to full red; the earth, berry and vanilla aromas of the bouquet are starting to mature, but the palate is much sweeter and riper, with abundant chocolate, ripe berry and flesh coming from the 14.5° alcohol.
