Winemaker's Notes

There are some real benefits to blending white viognier juice into the deep dark purple of shiraz. Rather than diluting the colour and flavour it brightens the purple hues, lifts the aromatics and adds a delicious silky texture to the mouth feel. The trick is not to over do the white component. Matured in 1-3 year old French oak for 16 months

Smells of fresh ripe nectarines with a perfumed lift. Lovely fruit-driven flavours of spicy prunes with nice fragrant oak and some excellent tannins.

This is stage one in the resurrection of Bob Oatley and his family, post Rosemount, post Southcorp: the name of their Sydney-Hobart yacht given a new lease of life from a winery operation centred around Mudgee. Here is a decent, good-value red - a touch too pruney for me, but silky smooth, rich with ripe sweet fruit and a gentle, slightly porty, finish.
