Willow Creek Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Here we have a moderately oaked, fleshy style of chardonnay that would be the bomb with a rich chicken dish. Aromas of ripe stone fruits, roast nuts and dairy decorate the nose, whilst the palate is generous and flavoursome, with tastes of peaches and cream, an zip of grapefruity acidity, and a smooth, silky finish that hangs around for a while.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Pale straw, with some green hues.

Bouquet: Intense lemon aromas are framed by a complex almond, mineral and subtle oak bouquet.

Palate: The palate reflects the bouquet with persistent citrus flavours, balanced by almond meal nuttiness and creamy texture from the lees ageing. Crisp natural acidity and a mineral length give the wine a tight structure which should reward medium term cellaring.

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
A rich and complex chardonnay that shows plenty of honey and almonds, nougat, ripe, peachy fruit and creamy, complex winemaking on the nose. The palate's smooth, concentrated and creamy: spiced custard and peach brulee flavours here, gently flinty, and spun sugar to close.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Elegant, intense and long; nectarine, grapefruit and green apple aromas and flavours do most of the talking; sensitive use of oak and a long finish.
