Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2007 Vintage) says
Already quite toasty, honeyed and buttery, this finely focused, long and chalky young riesling is scented with white flowers, lime and lemon. It's fractionally spicy and candied, but steadily reveals more layers of fruit and intensity. Punctuated by a refreshing acidity, it finishes with lingering fruit, powdery phenolics and a light minerality.

Jeremy Oliver (2005 Vintage) says
A powerful, broad-shouldered riesling that is developing rather quickly. Its floral and tea in-like aromas of slightly cooked and spicy fruit precede a broad, juicy palate supported by some rather raw and assertive phenolic extract. A little too thick, and lacking in brightness and freshness.

Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
An estery, honeysuckle-like perfume of pear, peach and apple precedes a slightly candied but generous, broad and juicy palate of length and structure. Fine, powdery phenolics lend texture and support to its citrus and apple flavours, before a clean and refreshing finish.

Jeremy Oliver (2003 Vintage) says
Closed, long-term riesling whose delicate and restrained lemon and lime juice aromas precede a taut, dry and austere palate offering a very reserved expression of pear and lime flavours. It finishes tight and savoury, with slate-like influences and lemony acids.
Australian Wine Annual 2005 2004
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Aromatic and flowery bouquet; remarkably intense, flavour-packed and long.
Australian Wine Companion 2005 2004
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Light straw-green; the moderately intense bouquet has attractive, floral, lime/ lime blossom aromas which move into a smooth but intense palate with lime juice flavours balanced by cleansing acidity on the finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2004 2003
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Light to medium yellow-green; the softly toasty bouquet has Ume and tropical fruit, the palate more delicate, with good length and intensity.
Australian Wine Companion 2003 2002
James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Medium green-yellow; the bouquet is clean, with nicely weighted lime juice aromas. A powerful, zesty palate with lime, mineral and herb flavours; attractive now but will improve yet further
Australian Wine Companion 2001 2001
James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Excellent, light green-yellow; the bouquet is crisp, with slightly hard mineral and herb aromas which will soften and fill out as the wine ages. The palate is light, fresh and well- balanced, with a nice dry finish. Once again, there is not a super-abundance of fruit, but the wine has definite potential to improve significantly given time.
Australian Wine Companion 2000 1999
James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Light green-yellow; a powerful wine with lots of spicy lime fruit aromas, and similarly abundant flavours, particularly on the mid-palate.
Australian Wine Companion 1999 1998
James Halliday (1996 Vintage) says
Striking, glowing yellow-straw; a concentrated and powerful bouquet with smooth, deep, rich lime aromas leads on to a palate which, while tremendously flavoursome and concentrated with its lime-accented fruit, is not heavy or phenolic. Great now or in seven years time.
