Windowrie Estate Deep River Chardonnay

Cracka Value Rating

Cracka Review

Classically speaking Cowra is ground zero for Chardonnay. with the warm summer days and cool nights making for some lovely juicy Chardy styles. Windowrie too are right up the top of the Cowra tree, with old vines and well sorted winemaking all leading to some very handy wines. This Chardonnay is a perfect example - a bright, juicy, peach and melon style with loads of flavour without getting too chubby.

Winemaker's Notes

The Deep River Chardonnay exhibits a pale straw colour with ripe peach and melon aromas. The palate is fresh and approachable with tropical fruit, peach and melon flavours. It is an ideal match with an array of foods or simply enjoy chilled on its own now or over the next three years.

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Strong green-yellow; mouthfilling peachy fruit, the finish showing signs of relatively high alcohol; seemingly unoaked.

Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
Attractive fine melon and restrained varietal fruits, melons and stone fruits, some savoury oak and nutty marzipan notes. The palate has well-weighted bright acidity and melon fruit flavour, spritely and fresh, gently nutty finish, a balanced, early drinking style.
