Witches Falls Winery Syrah

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This is a very medium-bodied style of shiraz from Witches Falls, which means it is dead easy to drink. Cassis, blackberries and cracked pepper jump out of the glass, whilst the palate is elegant and easy going, with some plummy fruit in the centre, talcy tannins, and a smooth, spicy finish. It's not what you would call complex, but it does skip across the tongue quite nicely.

Winemaker's Notes

You say 'Shiraz', I say 'Syrah' - it is the same grape none the less. In France Shiraz is known and grown as Syrah. Our 2010 Syrah shows inky blackcurrant and black pepper aromas on the nose. Dark plum and spice combine with fine tannins and integrated oak to deliver a soft, plump generous palate. This wine will reward careful cellaring.

Vibrant cherry red; bright red fruit bouquet, showing some savoury complexity with a suggestion of Provencal herbs; the palate is lively and truly medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp acid and a quite long and even conclusion.
